Brent started learning piano at age 9 and gave his first public concert at age 13. His primary formative teachers were Gloria Saarinen and former CPO conductor Arpad Joo. He was a prize winner in many competitions including being the local Kiwanis Rose Bowl winner. He has performed as soloist, chamber musician and accompanist across the world including concertos with orchestras in Europe and North America.
Brent is now one of Calgary's sought-out collaborative pianists for vocalists and has been a studio pianist for several prominent Calgary teachers. He currently is the pianist for the Core Celebration Choir, and the adult Encore and Second Chants divisions of the Youth Singers of Calgary. In addition, he is pianist for Memory Lane Chorus, a singing group for dementia patients and their caregivers. His primary role is as Church Pianist for First Baptist Church.
