Pastor David Schiedel

Dave serves as the Congregational Care Pastor at First Baptist Church Calgary, a ministry of outreach to care for the spiritual needs of God’s family.  Visiting the sick, encouraging and building up our seniors to be faithful followers/servants of Christ, offering Biblical life counseling, as well as comforting the bereaved are notable ways Dave ministers at FBC.  He has a focus on the church body that is in the second half of life, especially grandparents.  His goal is to equip and inspire grandparents to intentionally share a legacy of faith with the next generations which, in turn, blesses our families and fosters intergenerational ministry. He is committed to a grace-based, Spirit led foundation of ministry - the basis for Christ-like servant leadership.

Dave has been blessed by his faithful life partner in ministry, Kathie, serving Christ together for over 40 years.  We cherish our three children and five (soon to be six) grandchildren and are blessed to have them all living close by in Alberta. In fact, his favourite pastimes are grandchildren, followed by golf!

A favourite verse and goal in life is: “For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake.” (2 Corinthians 4:5)
